How to Bring your Attention to Heart Center, even when the kids are overwhelmed.

Are you feeling like the energy of your kids is bubbling up and about to explode?
Do you ever feel like, in their chatter and pent up playfulness, that you yourself is building up in intensity?
Energy is riding high right now and children are picking up on all that’s flowing around them.

Yesterday I went in for the Q&A live session in the group, and we talked a lot about how to help your kids feel more grounded and stable in the energy that’s circulating around them.

Meanwhile, the key to creating stability and grounded energy for your whole family, is to find that balance within yourself.
There’s so much overthinking right now. The energy is building and minds are chattering.
Self balance is always found when you shift attention to the Inside Out.
What does living inside out mean?
Hmmm… really this has to be felt more than explained.
So, here’s a little exercise which you can practice to stretch this experience. (I shared this for both the Breathing Space members and the Step into Your Light Program a couple of weeks ago, so if this feels repeated I apologize.)
The Octopus is a powerful mindset tool to help you shift from what’s outside of you to your inner perspective.
Here it is:

  • Take a deep breath, imagine you are an octopus and your tentacles are all around you.
Each Tentacle holds a to-do item, or something you give your attention to; a worry. A stress.
You feel your attention being pulled in all directions.
Now… here’s the funny thing. When you think about an octopus, you know he has tentacles, but you don’t define him by them.
Rather, you would look at the core body, the center.
  • So, with that in mind, as you feel your own tentacles spread out thin… Take a very deep breath, and as you exhale, withdraw your tentacles and focus on your heart center.
Breathe here for a few seconds. Possibly ask for a word that defines this heart space.
And then open your eyes.

Did you try it? What do you think? Did you feel the shift? (you can download a PDF copy of this exercise here.)
The inner world is always waiting…
Your HEARTSPACE is always waiting, SPIRIT is waiting and when you find that perspective you’ll find that balance is always not too far away.

Over at the Breathing Space we’ve been talking a lot about Ritual.
From special tea-breaks with the kids to Full Moon releasings… as well as creating sacred corners for connection for morning rituals of just connecting to your heart.
I think the Octopus is a wonderful little “ritual” that you can pull out whenever you feel like the Tentacles are taking over, when you feel your attention and energy being pulled in all directions.
You’ll remember a couple of weeks ago I suggested making sure you kept weekends special, so that they felt different from the rest of the week.
I think that adding a ritual, lighting a candle, sitting to journal in a special space, taking some deep breaths at a window, is a vital step to living inside out at these chaotic times.
And, if you don’t quite know how to slow your mind down to focus on that present moment, as an introduction to that time and space, practice the octopus and claim your inner connection.
Inner to support the outer.
Heart to support the mind.
I hope to be able to offer you more tools for living inside out over the next few weeks and months.

Have a good weekend. May it be filled with small moments of connection, sweet laughter, release of stresses and mostly, times of inner perspective so the outer world feels more balanced in your home.
