![]() So, Mercury Retrograde is here again. Do you find yourself craving some “cave” time or quiet time? I know my family is definitely seeking out hibernation. (and we're already having tech issues.) It’s funny how suddenly, everyone talks about things like Retrogrades and cosmic events, isn’t it? I know that 10 years ago or so, no one really thought about Mercury or other planets in the everyday. Ok, maybe some people did, but I know I didn’t. And yet, here it is, that time again. Mercury is in retrograde and everyone is talking about wanting to freeze in one spot until it is over. If you find that life is frantic and you simply want to hide, there’s a chance that Mercury, with its power, is simply calling you to take some time for going within, to breathe deep and realign, rather than just unleashing ultimate chaos on your life. Here’s what I mean; I like to see cosmic events, (mercury retrogrades, full moons, eclipses) like the weather. It’s all about adapting. I mean, you don’t wear your sunglasses when it’s pouring rain. Before going out you take note of the weather conditions and act accordingly. There’s snowtires as extreme preparation, and a simple umbrella for those just in case moments. There are a lot of variables, but it rarely stops you and sends you hiding in the covers.
So too is the case with cosmic events. It’s all about listening to the conditions and moving forward with them in mind. Take Mercury Retrograde for instance. Trying to push forward on something, like really, intellectually breaking things down and getting them done during this time, can feel a bit like wearing shorts in a snowstorm. It won’t be comfortable. However, acknowledging a retrograde or other event, is similar to when the weather is perfect for inner work. Seize the moment and it all seems to flow perfectly. There’s a natural feeling of wanting to sit and contemplate, to rest, to breathe deeply and appreciate what’s been and what can be. I’m not one to blame procrastination or stumbling blocks on astrological events. I truly believe your focus attracts like- minded energy so that builds in creation. Your beliefs are like prayers to the universe. (Mercury Retro didn’t seem to wreak such havoc until everyone started to notice it.) But, at the same time, there’s the weather, which can get you awfully wet if you aren’t conscious of it. And also, wonderfully delightful if you prepare and enjoy it. So, all of this to say, go easy with yourself. If you are feeling sluggish or unproductive, ask your heart what she needs and if she wants to just soak up a bit of the energy flow that is flowing to you and around you. Consider adapting your schedule… or at least your expectations… to be a little lighter, a little more in flow, with a bit more playfulness and connection. Take a few moments in the morning, or in traffic, or at the sink, or in the shower, or just before sleep to breathe deep and appreciate your inner self. Be at one with the universe, let her ebbs and flows guide and nourish you, rather than needing to push against them. She’s got your back. Just maybe, things like Mercury Retrograde and other energy events are her way of reminding you.

Interesting take on this subject. There's nothing new under the sun but we can certainly take notice, observe, and act as our hearts lead. Thanks. This makes a lot of sense to me.
