How to Remember to practice Self Care in a busy day

I know that is really, really hard to find 5 free min in a busy day of a very busy mom.

However, what many people don’t realise is what can often feel like not having enough time, is ACTUALLY forgetting to taking the moment or two to care for yourself in the first place.

I always say that I see spirit/the universe like electricity. It’s always around, but you have to plug in to it to access it. But remembering to plug in is the key, because if you aren’t used to relying on the universe then it’s not in your habitual thoughts.
Neural pathways are more like well-worn roads in your subconscious brain.
They are practiced over and over and therefore are the default path to walk. It takes mind-set work and the decision to change that path to start a new one.

(The image of a field with long grass is always what comes to my mind with this. It’s easier to take the well-worn path through that field then to chart a new one, stepping down and flattening a new way to take takes effort until it’s as worn as the other one. But over time that new path becomes the well-worn one and the other one becomes overgrown once again.)

So, this weekend make the decision to plug in to your spiritual source more often.
Here’s a few ways to remind yourself to practice Self Care and create new habits for spiritual connection.
  1. Reminders.
It sounds like common sense, but set a reminder on your phone and each time it goes off take 3 deep breaths, imagining love and light flowing through your lungs from the universe. Or, put post-its beside your bed or on the bathroom mirror reminding yourself to Love Yourself.

  2. Anchor items:
I love anchoring connection into items around the house. Such as a bracelet or necklace so every time you feel stressed you touch it to remind yourself to plug in OR something you do every day:
The other day I suggested to a client that she plugs in every time she takes a drink of water, imagining the water as universal flow of love refuelling her as she drinks. You can even stick a post-it on your water bottle to remind you.

  3. Use your phone usage.
Change your password on your phone to being something that reminds you of your spiritual connection (like an angel number for instance) You can also change your home screen to something that reminds you of the new habit you want to create. (The other day a client shared with me her home screen photo to show an angel number when we’d finished our session. Imagine my delight when I saw she was using a phone screen I created for the Breathing Space members a couple of years ago. I LOVE creating tools to make this simple)

As you can see it takes making the decision to practice connecting to your spiritual source, plugging in and giving your Self the Care you crave. It doesn’t need to be the retreats or spa dates. It also doesn’t take a lot of planning. Rather it starts with the simple decision to let yourself care for yourself and then putting some small tools in place to remind you to do so.

I love creating simple steps to help you connect to your true, inner most self.
Practical Spirituality for busy moms is my soul space.
This is what I’ve been focused on for many years now and I’ve created a number of tools in that time.
You might have heard me mention it, but I’ve created a group program and am getting ready to release the details soon.
This program is full to the brim of simple tools to help you uncover the layers of yourself and shine your brightest while raising your magical children (as well as tools to help you see their magic and help them know how to use it!)
I’m putting together a special offer for anyone on the Waiting list so if you aren’t on it already, I highly recommend you drop your name here. You’ll be the first to know all the details, with some special treats, and you’ll be able to reserve a spot before they fill up.
